NYS Cyber Research Institute

The establishment of the New York State Cyber Research Institute (CRI) is underway as a subsidiary of the Griffiss Institute, located at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park, Rome, New York.

Dr. John Bay, former Rome Lab Chief Scientist, has been named the Executive Director of the CRI.

Sponsored through New York State legislation in 2012 by Senator Griffo and Assemblyman Brindisi, the objective of the CRI  is to provide a major research institute that provides the basic research and “discovery” function for sensitive and classified cyber research that cuts across Rome Labs technical portfolio in Command, Control, Communications, Cyber and Intelligence (C4I) and is not suited for an open academic environment.

A primary focus area of the CRI is sensitive and classified cyber security research and development, leveraging the groundbreaking work being done at AFRL Rome with its industry and academic partners.
The CRI will provide the venue for developing solutions to challenge problems that impact us daily and jeopardize the safety, security and stability of the infrastructure and assets of New York State, and our country, in particular our national finance and banking, emergency communication, energy and transportation systems.
